MiGHTY Movers
1 - 2 Year Olds
At RCA, we know that toddlers are curious and full of energy! Our program was designed to fill their days with challenging and engaging activities to keep them stimulated, learning, and growing. In our Mighty Movers program, you’ll find carefully selected equipment that our newest walkers love to climb on, crawl through and hide in while stretching their gross motor skills. Our caregivers interact with and observe your child each day to create individualized learning plans for each toddler. No matter how your child is growing, we help them reach their highest development and potential.

A Typical Day

ROUTINES
In our Mighty Movers classrooms, children follow a daily schedule. Our Caregivers utilize daily routines to meet each child's physical and emotional needs all day long.
Classroom Schedule

Children thrive on routine! Everyday, our Mighty Movers follow the same daily schedule to promote consistency and security.
Sign Language

Basic sign language such as "more," "all done" and "eat" help us communicate with your child as they are learning to speak.
Meal Times

We provide breakfast, lunch, and snack to keep your little one energized and ready to play.
Mindful Nutrition

All of our meals are prepared daily and cut into safe, bite-size pieces! We never use canned fruits and veggies, or pre-made fried meats.
Diapering

Diapering is done as each child arrives, at routine times, and throughout the day as needed. Surfaces are cleaned and hands washed between each child.
Nap Time

Every child has their own mat, sheet, and blanket that belongs only to them for the duration of their time in the Mighty Movers classroom. Each day, our children nap for 2 hours after lunch.
Handwashing

Before meals and after diapering, our caregivers teach your child healthy habits by assisting with handwashing.

LEARN & PLAY
Throughout the day, children participate in pre-planned, developmentally appropriate activities! Your child will be reaching new milestones every day.
Large Group Meetings

Large group meetings are introduced throughout the day in segments no longer than 10-15 minutes at a time. Children are invited to participate, but welcome to continue playing.
Free Play

Free play is offered all day when children are not participating in routine activities such as meal times, nap, or diapering.
Book Exploration

Each week, a new book is introduced and expanded on throughout the week. Children engage in activities with our story cube, picture cutouts, and more.
Math Skills

Every day, one of our large group meetings is dedicated to expanding math and reasoning skills. From sorting to measuring to real-life skills, this is a hands-on time for learning.
Music & Movement

Music & Movement is a daily favorite. During this time, children are exploring patterns, rhythm, singing, dancing, and listening.
Art & Drama

Although art and drama toys and materials are available during free play time throughout the day, one of our large group meetings each day is focused on exploring this area of learning.
Outdoor Time

We know fresh air is so important for keeping children happy and healthy. So, every morning and afternoon (weather permitting), we take our Mighty Movers outside to explore our age appropriate playground.

OBSERVE
Every day, while interacting with your child, our caregivers are observing how they engage with different activities. This helps your child's caregiver to know exactly how to best challenge and assist your child with future activities.
Social & Emotional

Throughout your child's time in our Mighty Movers classroom, caregivers observe for different areas of Social & Emotional Development such as self-concept, self-direction, and engagement through social relationships.
Physical & Motor

Physical growth happens every day and caregivers want to observe for opportunities to help them continue growing. We focus on the following areas: gross motor, fine motor, and health & safety.
Language & Literacy

From the start, we want to introduce language and literacy concepts such as listening comprehension, communication, phonological awareness, concepts of print, letter/word recognition, reading comprehension, and emergent writing skills.
Math & Reasoning

When observing for math and reasoning, we focus on the following areas: number concepts, shapes, spatial awareness, patterns & sorting, measurement, and logic.
Science

Children are natural explorers! We regularly observe for their knowledge growth and development in scientific reasoning, life science, physical science, earth science, and technology.
Social Studies

We invite children to explore the diverse world around them, and observe their understanding of families & communities, civics & economics, geography, and history!
Creative Arts

Children naturally explore the creative arts through their big imaginations. When observing, we focus on: music, dance & movement, visual arts, and drama.

ENHANCE
Our Mighty Movers Curriculum is enhanced through programs, practices and activities that go above and beyond your expectations. Each feature is set in place to encourage a healthy and happy environment for every child in our program.
Weekly Themes

Each week, our curriculum focuses on a new theme, resulting in a variety of activities organized in a unified context.
Chapel Service

Every week, our Mighty Movers attend chapel service to sing praise songs, learn about Jesus, and pray together.
Enrichment Classes

Enrichment opportunities such as music & movement and story time are offered throughout our program each week.
Screen-Free Classrooms

Research clearly shows the benefits of limited screen time for children of all ages, but especially children under 2 years old. That is why we never use screens of any kind in our classrooms.
Emergency Procedures

At RCA, we practice emergency drills regularly including fire drills, tornado drills, and lockdown drills.
Secure Environment

Every classroom, hallway, and exit is video-monitored. All visitors must have an I.D. on file, and all staff undergo extensive background checks.
CPR Certified Caregivers

All of our caregivers are CPR and First Aid certified. Certifications are renewed every 2 years!
Cleanliness

All surfaces, toys, and nap accessories are routinely cleaned on a daily and weekly basis. Every child has a space for their personal belongings.

CONNECT
Connecting with you each day is just as important to us as connecting with your little one. With our Parent App, you will never be left to wonder how your child's day went.
In Person Interactions

Communicate with your child's caregiver each morning to update them on how your child's night was. Ask any questions about their day when you pick up each afternoon.
Parent App

We are proud to use the ProCare App to communicate menus, events, newsletters, and more! Also, use the app to send messages directly to our First Impressions Team.
Parent School Fellowship

The purpose of the RCA PSF is to foster fellowship among caregivers and parents and to promote unity, increase parent involvement, be a source of encouragement to the RCA family, and honor God above all things.
